A boy riding a bicycle in the Nachlaot neighborhood of Jerusalem,
a painting that brings us back to beautiful childhood memories.
This painting captures a moment where modern life meets ancient promise. It is a visual representation of the fulfillment of a Biblical prophecy from the Book of Zechariah.
The Prophecy of Zechariah and the Return to Zion
The work is deeply rooted in the prophecy of Zechariah (8:4-5), which describes a pastoral reality of the Jewish people returning to Israel after 2,000 years: "Old men and old women shall again sit in the streets of Jerusalem... and the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing."
This scene of a beautiful child against an old, gray wall immediately moved me to pull out my camera and document the moment.
The colorful contrast between the child and the wall, between the new and the old,
the innocent gaze of the child,
and the enchanting, ancient neighborhood of Nachlaot - all of these connected instantly to a point in time with historical and spiritual significance, echoing that very prophecy in the Book of Zechariah.
The boy and the bicycle represent our current era and are rendered more figuratively.
The wall is built of prominent stones,
characteristic of Jerusalem construction,
with large patches of color and drips.
This part is more abstract,
leaving an open space where everyone can integrate their own personal story, childhood memory, and faith.
This piece an invitation to connect with the spiritual and historical story of the Land of Israel
It brings the unique spirit of Jerusalem into your home.
