This piece began as several large patches that did not work well together.
I made many changes and trials, yet there was still stiffness and a lack of flow.
I felt discouraged and set it aside for a while.
The challenge intrigued me so I returned to try again.
Slowly, the shapes began to break apart and split. Each color patch gave space to the one beside it, another shade, another line, another spot, a new shape was added.
Gradually, a new melody of connections between the different forms was created.
The shapes are abstract and semi-geometric. The lines are clean and simple. The color palette is composed of browns, greens, grays, and blacks, with subtle transitions between the various tones.
The range of shades for each color adds depth and interest to the painting.
This work invites us on a journey into abstract art,
to decipher the hidden order between the shapes and discover something new each time.
We can examine our own energy through the painting.
At one time it can evoke energy and movement, and at another, quiet and serenity.
The idea behind the painting is the beauty in the connection between different parts that seem impossible to connect.
It reminds us that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
