וכשקראתי אז בכלל..
הסיפורים על טוב הלב שלו,
הצניעות,
האישיות המיוחדת.
עד אז הכרתי אותו בתור הרב הראשי, הסיפורים האנושיים "הקטנים" שלו
הכירו לי צד אחר לגמרי!
הרגשתי שאני כל כך רוצה להידמות לו!
להתנהג ככה,
אפילו באחוז אחד.
היה לי ברור שאני אצייר את התמונה הזו,
זו לא היתה שאלה.
הרגשתי שיש כאן משהו מעל הטבע,
שאני לא יודעת להסביר
אבל אני חייבת להוציא את זה.
How can Jewish Art transform the atmosphere of your home?
We love investing in our home's atmosphere,
adding a plant here, a new vase there. There is something fulfilling in it.
And on a spiritual level - it is even more fulfilling:
A Shabbat table, a white tablecloth, beautiful candlesticks,
decorations for the Sukkah.
Because what surrounds us - shapes us.
Our Sages said it long ago:
"A beautiful dwelling, a beautiful wife, and beautiful vessels broaden a person's mind."

Why I painted it in the first place
And what happened to me the moment it was born.
About a year ago, I spoke with Rabbanit Rachel Bazak. I wanted to share the painting with her and hear the story behind the photo.
When she told me the true story - I couldn’t believe it.
Suddenly, I understood why I felt that way while painting it. And why it stirs so much emotion in anyone who sees it.
The photo was taken on Lag BaOmer, on the way to the tomb of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai.
The traffic jams were endless.
Six to seven hours of noise, honking, and frustrated drivers.
But the Rabbi?
He wasn’t there.
He was completely detached.
Deeply immersed in the study of the "Idra", a special teaching for Lag BaOmer.
The Rabbanit shared that he was communicating with the soul of Rabbi Shimon, and that he was literally radiant from the study.
And that is the light you see in the photo.
I thought she would say he was studying at night by the light of a small lamp.
But physically radiant from the Torah?
It’s incredible!
The Rabbanit said that it was then she understood the soulful connection between the Rabbi and Rabbi Shimon.
For years, that photo hung in her private room.
Suddenly, everything connected for me.
This is a photo that captured a truly sacred and rare moment.
I read the book "Avihem Shel Israel." The image on the cover made me tear up. I don't know why.
He leans over the book. Such greatness - with such humility.
And the light... he is so radiant!
And when I started reading... His kindness, His modesty, Such a rare personality.
The "small" human stories revealed a layer I hadn't known.
Not just the Chief Rabbi,
but someone I wanted so much to be like.
Even by just one percent!
So, how this Rabbi Painting was born?
I felt that I had to paint this picture.
It was an inner urge,
something beyond nature
that I couldn't explain,
but I knew I had to bring it out.
It took me several months to paint.
I was an art student in Jerusalem back then.
I sat and painted for hours upon hours,
entire weeks.
I would close the college with the security guard at eleven at night.
I felt like I was in a frenzy.
Bold brushstrokes,
drips,
vivid colors,
thick layers of paint.
It was as if someone was painting through me,
like I was a vessel for revealing something holy.
Every corner of this painting tells the Rabbi's story.
The touching kindness I read about.
The warm, holy light radiating from him.
The subtly hinted glasses falling, like a sign of loss.
When the painting was complete,
I felt close to the purest,
most primal place within me.
I felt that this painting has power.
The power to change the atmosphere in a home.
The power to remind us of what truly matters.
The power to uplift the soul.

I am Livnat Bashari Juli,
A professional artist, painter, and a mother who loves this land with all my soul. I paint out of a deep connection to my identity and to the spirit that gives my life meaning. My passion is creating Jewish Fine Art that weaves together aesthetics and beauty with Jewish philosophy.
I studied painting at Emunah College in Jerusalem and at 'Hatahana' Studio in Tel Aviv. My original oil paintings and works have been featured on Channel 13, published in international publications like Art Market Magazine, and acquired by private art collectors in Israel and around the world.
I was honored to receive the Michelangelo Prize in Rome. But for me, the true prize - what really expands my heart - is when my painting moves something in someone else's soul.
When a woman hangs one of my Rabbi portraits in her home and tells me it changed the entire atmosphere, or when someone sees my work at an exhibition and says, "This is the first time I've looked at a Rabbi and seen a human, family-oriented side".
In those moments, I feel reborn. It reminds me why I chose to become an artist and what my mission truly is.
And that is the essence of the art I create: Beauty that moves the heart.
