I started this painting from an inner urge, stepping out onto my balcony in Kedumim in Samaria. 
 
I looked at the landscape before me, green mountains alongside old village houses. 
 
This view tells so much about the complexity of the Jewish settlement in Israel. 
 
It is a story of the ancient and inseparable bond of the People of Israel to their land. 
 
A story that unfortunately has claimed a very heavy price throughout the generations.
 
Like music playing in my head, the painting flowed without struggle. 
 
I began by sketching the landscape in an abstract way, large geometric shapes with clean and simple lines connecting to one another. 
 
I touched the canvas with my brush and the colors flowed, browns, greens, and grays. Each shape is part of a moving story.
 

 
Immediately after this piece, I painted another inspired by this view, The Green View from the Balcony. 
 
The connection between a modern design style and an ancient, historical landscape invites us to think about the concept of settlement in a new way. 
 
Each of us will see something different in it.
